"“Unusual behavior”"
Tue 30-Jul-13 07:53 PM by Antero52

The quality of this series is not enough for contest photos, but the event was interesting. I saw what was happening and shot a few quick ones through the kitchen window, three panes. A sparrow made a mistake and tried to occupy the nest of a european pied flycatcher, a notoriously aggressive bird. The sparrow waited inside for at least half an hour, without daring to move, while the flycatcher challenged it to a duel. The same flycatcher denied the woodpecker access to nearby trees and forced it to feed like a songbird.

Regards, Antero

Hi Antero, there a lot going on that goes unnoticed in the world of nature. Thanks for sharing. The woodpecker looks like the Redheaded one we have here in the southeast US.
