The grackles are not very attractive until you get that nice iridescent color in the feathers. I don’t think I have even seen a female.

Nice work!

Thanks, Dave. These Boat-tailed aren't very pleasant to hear either.

Grackles - a gang of them will clean out a feeder in a few hours - basta'ds - but I love the iridescent blue heads. I also have not seen a female - or at least didn't recognize it when I did.

Thanks Chris. I don't think you would find these at a feeder as they are a rather solitary bird. These Boat-tailed are much larger than the Common Grackle which will clean out your feeders. The Great-tailed is even larger yet but I have never seen one of those.

Which would explain why I haven't seen the female. I just looked in iBirds and noted that the female common grackle is much closer in color to the male. Thanks for the correction.

Hi Rick. Your Grackle looks similar to our Currawong. Noisy, offensive scavengers. Very aggressive & not very popular here. I wonder if they're related.
Nice shots btw......Scotty.

Nice shots, good job on the exposures. They are actually pretty when the light hits them just right.
