"Interesting "out of body" Photo ??"

Pennsylvania, US

As does often happen to me, I ended up with an image I had not anticipated. Interesting result. Is it a ghost, out of body experience or a dream? Let's just say 'timing' is everything.

Handheld in the rain with my V1/55-300VR.

Nice one. I've never seen one that came out that sharp and blurred too.

Thanks Tom,

To be clear....this was a male purple finch on the left side of a 2 hooked feeder. A female (I think) flew in to land on the right hook just as the shutter snapped. Her wings moving in front of her as she is coming to land and her slight distance behind the male is causing the blur.

This is a wonderful accident.

And you should tell all your friends how long and hard you worked setting up this image…

Thanks guys for your comments.

Like JonK said above, this was a "wonderful accident". I was not shooting the birds...I was actually testing the rain drops to see what length they would be on the image at different shutter speeds. I used the male finch simply as a subject for reference. Then the other bird flew in to the FOV. I wish now I had taken more care with the settings to have a better (technically) photo. As was also stated, there is no way I could have staged this to be such a precise positioning and somewhat in-focus 'ghost'.

Guess from now on I will have to take every picture as if it might turn into something special.
