>I love your shoots. I am thinking of getting the 300 F4 how >far away were you and did you have to crop???
Hi Francine, The shots of the Cormorant & Eurasian Coot were taken from about 20' & 30' respectively. The Cormorant was slightly cropped. The Coot wasn't. Although I should have cropped some of the uninteresting area out in front of the bird. The Grebe was around 100' away from me & was severely cropped. The beauty of the 300mm f/4D is that it is a pretty sharp lens to begin with. The D300s extends that to 450mm. Add the 1.4TC & I effectively have a reach of 630mm. You would achieve the same benefit on your D90. I'm attaching the same photo uncropped for comparison.....Scotty.
Keep up the good work Scotty Just love the little pied cormorant and coot Once again perfect focus and DOF I'm sure you will capture the grebe again in better weather, you did well considering the conditions Regards, Gary
I used to have a photographic memory but never got it developed
