That is a beautiful job of placing the white on white. These have a dramatic feel that is unique. Thanks for showing.

I had passed them over as technically flawed and too atmospheric. But I was reviewing the files tonight and they struck me differently.

Your atmospheric shots inspired me to post these. Thanks for reminding me that this pursuit is more about how we feel when we watch these birds than technical perfection.

You made my day, Jim. Thanks.
I think you've managed to capture both.
Now if you could just give this bird directions to Hershey, PA, I'd appreciate it.

Great shots, the art is at the feeling level for me the viewer, response to the beauty of the animal and composition make it art for me. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome series! Can't decide which is my preference - maybe #2 with his wing hiding part of his face, or #2 with the wings in unison, or #1 with the outstretched wings. The eyes against white add so much too. Much pp done? Thanks for sharing.

My post processing is very light: typically black and white control points, mild enhancement of brightness/contrast/saturation on the eyes, a touch of detail sharpening on the bird, crop, size and a touch of overall sharpening before saving as a jpeg.

Yeah, I love the high-key look, and that second one with him peaking out from above the wing/cape is just awesome!!

I really needed the tree in the background to show that the air really was white! And yes, this is my favourite manoeuvre too, which I've only been able to capture twice.

A snowy is nothing compared to the extreme wildlife you've been documenting, but the extent to which he can manoeuvre without shifting his gaze is fascinating.

All 3 are very nice, convey a feeling of a cold day. He must have been pretty close to shoot without the TC, nice detail in his moustache.

I think he was on the fifth post in. Still, I would have preferred the TC - and 1/1600 rather than 1/1250 - in better light.
