The Eagles were flying/feeding mostly out of reach yesterday. So some of us were trying to catch them with the dam in the back ground as there are some framing opportunities there.

Nice shot Scott!

Of all of the images I have with the dam in the background I think yesterdays was the first that the bird was framed so nicely under the arch. This one is framed perfectly, it is too bad that that section of the dam doesn’t have the red top.

Thanks Dave. Your right it is tough to get it framed just right. At first glance I too thought where is the red top. After working with the image though I think in this case with the young bird & his position the golden color works well. I think if it was that bold red it might have stolen too much attention from the bird. My other one I will post later does have the red top with some gorgeous colors but the bird is right on it like in yours, there I think the red color works great. It had that red, white & blue thing going on and with the Eagle in the frame it doesn't get any better. See you in a few weeks.

Very nice image, Scott-great winter light! I wouldn't mind shooting there-is it quieter during the week? 100 photogs seems crazy!

Hi Mark, thanks for the comments. Yes I would imagine it is quieter there during the week. But the action is usually better when there is someone who brings fish, not sure if this happens during the week. It would be nice to meet if you decide to make the trip. Keep me posted.

Hi Mark,

The crowds are usually not so bad during the week. Action is always better (closer) if someone brings fish but the birds will be out and fishing either way.

We shoot off of a sea well and have about 100 yards of rail with a good shooting angle. I prefer the end closer to the parking lot.

We are have a mid-January thaw over the next few days but it looks like we should be back to normal next week.
