"Freshwater Crocodile."

Usually harmless & very shy, this guy was sunning himself on the Normanby River in Far North Queensland. I only got a couple of shots with the D80 & 70-300mm F/4.5-6G lens, before he dived into the water & disappeared.....Scotty.

A cute specimen. Is this a juvenile or adult?

Thanks for looking Antero. This guy would be an adult. I doubt they'd grow much larger. Most specemins you find are usually around 600-800mm.

Thanks Richard. He was alert enough to hear the shutter on the D80. A split second after I took the shot he launched himself into the water. It's a pity I wasn't set on continuous shutter at the time. I don't think there are too many shots of airborne Crocodiles....Scotty.
