Well after about 6 or 7 trips and well over 10 hours I finally got a shot of the Snowy Owl in flight. I am still shivering from standing out there for a few hours today without proper clothing so will have to look at my other images later

A superb image indeed. Did you use a hideout or try to look like a mole?
That wing shape is interesting. When I watched juvenile eagle owls in Helsinki in spring 2011, I noticed that they too had the same ability to bend their wings into an L shape. An adaptation for flying in a forest perhaps?
P.S. I see now that no bait was used, so you didnt try to look like a mole.
thanks Antero No blind was used and he is definitely not afraid of people. The problem is that he is usually 200' in the field. I haven't seen anyone bothering him but I think it's because I am there later in the day when there are quite a few people watching. I think it keeps most people honest
This was the first time I flew this close to me and it's because he was after a mourning dove
