"Deer drinking at pond"

San Antonio, US

This was taken a few months ago close by Austin, TX. I like how peaceful the scene is.

Shot with a D7000 and 70-200 VR.

Very nice! Is that a fallow or axis deer?

I assume axis as they are common on private ranches in Texas, but I'm not 100% sure.

This has the ingredients of a very nice pastoral scene. Good pose, eye contact and detail. I'm viewing this on my laptop, and not with my calibrated main computer, but the photo looks overexposed. Did you do any post-processing? You could lower the exposure and highlights.

Regards, Antero

Did a couple of things with LR
exp -0.67
recovery +21
Black adjustment
and saturation +12

Lets see if it shows well on your monitor.

Wow, big improvement, thanks Antonio!

The deer drank for a few seconds so I think I have some landscape versions. I'll take a look.

Good pose, agree with Antero, I would have liked landscape posting as it would have shown more habitat.

Nice work!

I like Antonio’s processing. I would probably go into the eye and bring back some brightness.

I would also like to have had more room in front of the deer. He is a bit crowded in the frame now and going wider on the left would add more to the nice environment.

Your welcome Dave, this was a quick exercise just to show what LR can do with just a couple of clicks. I was not in the scene of course so the adjustment were somewhat random and think I overdid saturation and maybe not even needed at all.

Cheers, Antonio
