"Dunlin, Least Sandpiper, or Something Else?"

Denver, US

Captured this image while at the Brazoria NWR on the Texas Coast. Shorebirds, particularly sandpipers are difficult for me to ID, although I have narrowed my search to it being either a Dunlin or a Least Sandpiper. I could be wrong on both counts. Your help is appreciated along with any comments and critiques.

I would guess, and it is only a guess, that it is a Least Sandpiper because of its yellowish legs and what appears to be a shorter bill than a Dunlin has.
Another guess would be a Pectoral or (long shot) Sharp-tailed Sandpiper.Does it have a distinct eye ring ?(It is hard to tell with this image)

Thank you Rick. It has an eyering, but not one that is glaring.

Nice work Vaughn!

You don’t see many images of these shore birds flying.

It was a lucky shot Dave, he was flying against the wind.

Nice BIF Vaughn. I haven't been to Brazoria yet - will definitely need to check it out.

Thank you Linda for looking and commenting. It was my first visit to Brazoria, and at least this time it was not very impressive. Next time I have limited time near Houston I will go to Brazos Bend where I am almost certain to leave feeling fulfilled.

Take care,

Vaughn
