"some late summer black bears & grizzly cub farewell"


Smithers/Stewart, CA
          

all pictures were shot with the N D800 using mostly the N f2.8 80-200mm except for 2 shots using the N f4 500mm

many thanks Scotty - "close to safety'' ? I was sitting in my truck for all but one picture and that one was shot from a platform - we are all up in my area fairly cautious lately since an incident 2 weeks ago, a fisherman about 25 km from my house while actively fishing on the Morice River essentially minding his own business got very badly mauled by a sow grizzly the final word on him was "it will take many months of reconstructive surgery to try to replace his lower jaw" ! - yeah I'm really careful, instead of a fish in his mouth it could easily be a human see enclosed-not a friendly demeanour
