"Another Green Heron, Rattray Marsh"

Mississauga, CA

I just really liked this pose. No crop, a few bright spots cloned out, a little exposure, contrast and clarity adjusments in Lightroom and that's about it. This one I think was shot using a beanbag resting on my camera bag on the ground.
Thoughts?

D80, Sigma 150-500 at 450, 1/100 sec @ f/8, ISO 400

Very nice! I love the pose and low angle.

I think I would try an non-standard aspect ratio and crop part of the top off of the image.

Thanks for the suggestion, Dave. Something like this -- or have I gone too far? I really appreciate this forum for the helpful critiques it can provide.
What do others prefer?

Oh, and here's one of a slightly different pose. Still using Dave's suggestion of a tighter crop (this one a 16-to-9 ratio).

Take care, and thanks for looking.

Hi, I like the tighter crop - it amplifies the laying low of the heron and your low POV. Well done.

Thanks for the kind words, Al. I too like the second pose, but overlooked it the first time through the set in favour of the more direct side shot. Not sure why.

Amazing. I like the tighter crop, too.

Thanks for the comment Victor. This was very definitely another belly-in-the-dirt capture, but it does give the nice low POV that I like.

Wonderful pose Chuck, love the intensity and the low angle.

There seem to be so many Green Herons this year and a lot fewer Black-crowned for some reason around the Greater Toronto Area.
