Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park

This young sow has three very small cubs to feed as well as herself. The bears are eating choke cherries mainly right now and it requires a lot of time in the trees to get full. Since a lot of the cherry trees are close to roads here the feeding bears attract a lot of attention which stresses them and sometimes makes them move on before they would have liked to.

In this shot her cubs are still up the tree she came down from and I think she is trying to figure out where to go next before bring her cubs down.

Thanks Vaughn. It's a fun place to visit but you have to steel yourself for the crowds. Hard to beat the animal action, though.
