"Dark-eyed Junco"

Anchorage, US

We seem to be short of warblers around here, however I have been able to find a few of these Dark-eyed Juncos.

Thanks for looking, hope you enjoy,

Very nice capture Lee -

I like the low angle of the light, was that early morning or later in the day?

The only nit I have is that I might have blurred/softened the sharp green leaf to the left of the bird as it detracts one's eye from the Junco.

What gear did you use for the shot?

Al

Al,

I completely forgot to put info in the post....this was shot in deep in the Alder bushes which is why the light seems somewhat subdued. It was 10:15am but the sun is very high in the sky up here at that time. If you're careful, one can shoot all day long in the thicket of the Alders. I used my D300 and 200-400 Nikkor @ 400mm. f/9 1/800 ISO 400 -1/3 ev and approximately 30ft distance.

Thanks for looking and commenting,

Lee

You've got some nice detail in the feathers Lee, a touch more sharpening might help, but be careful not to add too much as you'll start to bring out the noise in the background (unless you mask that).

Thanks for the comment, Richard. I'll give that a try on the sharpening.
