Does anyone have a book to recommend on the artistic or compositional use of speedlights. I have Thom Hogan's book which tells me as much about the tecnical details of Nikon speedlights as anyone could wish. I've found small sections in various subject books, like wildlife and landscape photography books, that give tips on the use of speedlights. But can anyone recommend a book devoted to flash that talks about the organization and deployment of flash equipment to achieve artistic results.

I remembered a book I lent to someone (and never came back) that had plenty of this: Mastering Flash Photography A Course in Basic to Advanced Lighting Techniques by Susan McCartney

Without a doubt that is the best all-purpose book there is on the subject of flash. The best part is that she uses Nikon gear, and she identifies by name or number whatever she is talking about.
