"SC17 off camera cord"

I just got an SC 17 off camera cord. When I fire the flash with my FE2 with the SB16B directly in the camera's hot shoe, everything works fine. When I put the flash on the cord and fire it at a wall 4 feet away it flashes indicating that the whole charge has been used. When I fire the flash at that same wall at the sme distance mounted on the camera, it takes less than a second to recharge, indicating that very little of the charge was used. Anybody got any ideas? Do I just have a bad cord?

When using the SC17 and flash off-camera, what were you doing with the camera?

Pointing it at the same place I was pointing the flash, a wall 4 feet away from the camera. The lens cap was off.

We are going to need live ammo for this.
Load the camera with some film and repeat the test, then see the results after development and let the flash fully recharge to avoid any misfirings.

Thanks, I figured that out last night that since it's OTF, it makes a difference as to whether film is loaded, however that was not the issue, I just hadn't slid the male shoe in far enough, got my test roll back, works just fine.

Very good to know that the SC-17 on a FE2 works just fine.
