I'm new to the F4s and am trying to use my SB16 with Nikon TTL foot (SB-16B?). My question is this, will the F4 set the proper exposure automatically with this flash, or do I need to set up the exposure using one of the two auto settings and the manual 1/250 speed on the F4? I'm using the camera and flash with my 85mm1.4 ais, so programmed operation is out. Just wondering if the flash will properly interface using aperture prioity. The flash compatibility charts provided with the camera don't even mention this flash, hence my question. Paul M. Spatzek

The SB-16, with a flash unit coupler AS-9 (hot shoe) should work flawlessly in TTL mode with the F4s in matrix metering. I remember using one once on my FE-2, from a friend who had it for his F3 and bought both the AS-8 mounting foot plus the AS-9, so I tried it for him. As I remember, it performed very nicely.
