Just wandering if anyone else is having the same issues as I'm experiencing with my SB900. What's happening is that the Ready light is showing that the flash is ready to fire. When I take the image the flash doesn't fire fully, I say that because the flash fires but with insufficient power so my image is dark. When I take the second shot the image is fine, that is it's exposed correctly. This happens regularly and occurs regardless of weather I'm using fresh rechargeables. I'm considering when I get back from my US holiday (and what a pain it is to have faulty equipment when you're on vacation overseas) to have the capacitor replaced. I'v heard that this can be an issue over time.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem and if so what have you done to rectify it?

Elio, Hi, I had a similar problem with my SB-900 flash while on a shoot a few years ago. Luckily, I had a backup SB-900 with me. I wound up sending the SB-900 to Nikon to have the capacitor replaced. I don't recall how much it cost me, but since then, I've not had any problems with that flash or any of my other SB-900's.
