Quick question guys - can the SB-700 be used to trigger SB-600 speedlights in commander mode when mounted on camera. I think it can - just a confirmation would be good...

US	Hi Alex, All of the Nikon i-TTL Speedlights to date (SB-800, SB-600, SB-900, SB-700, SB-910, SU-800 and even the SB-R200) with the exception of the SB-400 are fully compatible with each other. Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons! Best Regards, Marty

Yeah but you can't use the SB600 in commander mode. I need one you can and I think the SB700 is the way to go... Cheers

A disadvantage of the SB-700 is that it can only control two groups. For portraits, you almost always need three groups, main, fill, and hair).

I use an SB-800 in the studio for controling three groups.

Indeed - but I can use the camera mounted SB-700 as the main and my two SB-600s for the fill and hair at the moment...

And anyway, it is already wrapped up and under the tree - I can see it from here...
