"Ring flash and D600"

I use a Sigma EM 140 DG ring flash with a D700 to do medical photography. Exposure using TTL BL mode is inconsistent at times. I'm wondering if perhaps the D600 might be better at metering with the Sigma ring flash versus the older D700. Any opinions?
