"Need slaves for wedding hall -- SB400 or SBR 200 work?"
Hi All, I have a question about speedlights that I can't seem to find an answer for.
I recently got back into shooting weddings, and need 3-6 slave flashes that I'm triggering with my SB800 from on a D300. I've looked at used SB800's, which do the job but are really very expensive; more so with the SB600 or SB700. I'd like to make a profit this year, so that means spending as little as possible, and I don't really trust Nissin or other off-brands.
I researched the issue, and I'm not sure the SB400 will use iTTL like the SB800's do. I've also looked at the SB-R200, and with a guide number of 43, it seems like it would do the job, has iTTL so I can use CLS, and is affordable.
Has anybody had any experience using these outside of Macro and closeups? Would it be a worthy slave in a small wedding hall? If not, will the SB400 do the job?

I know the SB400 is not CLS compatible. I have tried the R200 in a studio setting and they seemed to work well. However they are limited in range, being designed for macro work. I am not sure how they'd work shooting a wedding. It depends on the distance and whether you are using modifiers.
