"Flash compensation on and off camera, with and without pw"

Novi Sad, CS

ok, here goes...

I can bracket my SB 900 manually with +/- 3 stops, equalling total of 6 stops

is there a way to bracket the flash while it's mounted on camera, through camera flash compensation controls in the same manner (6 stops) or just -3 to +1 compensation? On my D300, I can get only that... 4 stops.

I assume the answer is the same for triggering the flash with pw, as I am doing flash compensation from the camera, not manually on the flash.

Whole point of a question being, how to get as much flash output control just using the camera controls, not going to the actual flash every time and setting it's output manually
