Has anyone tried the newer Metz 58 AF-2 with the D800,or the D700? Is the new(er) Metz AF-2 any different than the older AF-1?

Hi Mark,

The 58 AF-2 may be a little more efficient with NiMh batteries (250 flashes (2100mAh vs. 180 flashes 1600mAh though there is a 500mAh difference in capacity) and recycles about .5 seconds faster than the 58 AF-1.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty

Thank you for the reply.
Most of the time my AF-1 functions perfectly, but in some fill-flash situations I get overexposure.
Have you noticed any differences in exposure performance with the AF-2?

Aside from the Manuals, I have not compared them directly.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Thanks.

I just had the same problem with my SB-400, so it's not the Metz flash, it's something that I am doing.

This also happened with my D700, so it's not the camera body.
