"Flash mode for back light?"

I would like capture the photo of the worker climbing on
the tree, but there is strong back light. What mode should
I setting for the flash and the camera.(F90x with sb80dx)

I think TTL Fill flash used along matrix metering will do it. The flash would illuminate the worker and balance it with the bright background without overexposing them at all.
