"Why don't any of those plastic battery holders take 5 b"

West Hartford, US

I keep my batteries together in sets for us in my SB800's, and I prefer to use the 5th battery holder. These nice plastic battery holders only seem to come in a capacity of 4, which makes them useless for this purpose.

Anyone found any such holders with a 5 battery capacity?

Neal:

Welcome back!

I found some sturdy, inexpensive plastic/hard rubber cases at one of my local specialty shops that will hold eight batteries . Five of these will hold forty batteries which provides you with eight sets of spares for your SB800s.

You can imagine how many of these I have to hold two sets of spares for my herd of SB800s.

I did a search on the web but could not find anything locally for these.

Can you send me a link, brand name or store for these?

Thanks,

Bob:

If your question is for me, the battery cases do not have a number or name of any kind on them ... I looked everywhere.

They are 3.0 inches wide by 4.625 long by 0.875 thick. The hinged clamshell case with two snaps is an almost transparent, clear, pliable plastic that is fitted with a yellow soft rubber insert that holds eight AA batteries. The corners are nicely rounded and will fit easily in pockets.

I purchased them at PhotoMark in Phoenix, Arizona: 602-244-1133.

Hope this helps.

I bought mine at Adorama. They are called "Ansmann Empty Battery Storage Box". They cost $3.50 per box but are good quality.

You could get one of these and cut it to hold any even number of batteries:

http://www.toolsaviation.com/html/12Paack.htm

They do sell a 4-pack unit also.

You can always buy more SB800s.

They hold exactly five batteries as you requested. (Grin!)

And it's a lot quicker just to swap out a flash than change batteries!!!

I don't know of any 5-battery holders, so I use 8-battery holders from here:

http://thomasdistributing.com/batteryholder-index.htm

Thomas Distributing has been very responsive and a pleasure to do business with. I also use their 8-batter charger for charging 5 batteries at a time.
