"Nikon Flash Guide by Thom Hogan"

Alto, US

Has anyone seen this book yet? I keep waiting for it, but amazon, B&N, and my local bookstores can't seem to get hold of it. I hope it's as good as his Nikon Field Guide. Any thoughts, reviews, opinions would be appreciated. BTW, it is my understanding that the book was published in June or July.
Jeff

I maintain correspondence with Mr Hogan and he has been complaining about his publisher's delays. Maybe by September we'll see it here at the Bookshelves.

Thom Hogan contributes regularly at the NikonAF, NikonMF and nmlist (previously Nikon Digest), all at YahooGroups. I've also exchanged emails with him. He has said that the book has been ready since January or so this year, but there's been delays on the publisher's end. His contributions on the YahooGroup lists has been very helpful and very informative, not only on flash issues but also on the general inner-workings of Nikon's modern cameras. I too am eagerly awaiting his new book.

Does anyone know if the updated Nikon Field Guide will be available at that time too?

The Nikon Field Guide is on its 2nd edition.
The first one came out on March, 1988; the 2nd on October 1999.
No date yet on a possible 3rd edition, probably already written.

Here's what Thom Hogan e-mailed me a couple of weeks ago:

Al:

I wrote the 3rd Edition of the Field Guide earlier this year, but I've had nothing but problems with Silver Pixel Press since the economy slowed down. They've delayed the Flash Guide by four months and counting. I recently had to deliver a warning letter that they were in breach of contract. It's unclear what will happen next. Hopefully everything will work out soon, as I now have three books waiting in the queue. (includes the N80 Field Guide)
