"P7000: mount as external drive? Mac&PC"

Delray Beach, US

Hello-very happy with images on P700 JPEG's are great on Vivid and I'm happy with shutter lag and focus speed-even nailed some Birds in Flight (BIF). I am having problems with getting my PC's (Sony Vaio and MacBook Pro) to see the SDHC 4GB card on the Sandisk 5in1 reader-tried many times to update firmware-devices are seen but card won't mount. Also tried to use Camera to USB connection to the computer. iPhoto-Aperture-Windows7/XP Media reader will see camera photos but not mount as disk......I have googled this, looked on Apple forums and stills stumped. Has anyone else had this issue and worked around it? Not a huge issue but would like to upgrade firmware.

Thanks,

Capt T

I have not experienced any problem downloading to MacBook Pro, or Mac workstation using Lexar USB CF and SDHC reader, latest NikonView NX and Transfer. Have not tried direct USB to camera. If you use the P7000 RAW (NRF) as I do, I wonder if I-Photo etc do not yet support the format.

Must be with the USB output- Nikon DSLR's have a choice of USB output but not P7000. Sort of like the Color Space-no choice. Still an amazing little camera. I will keep trying. My intent it to do the firmware update. The card reader problem I have is I need a new reader that works with Snow Leopard. What type are you using?

Thanks,

TSG

Lexar Professional UDMA Compact Flash/SD Reader USB2. On Leopard and Snow leopard. Worked with original firmware and also with updated version. Great camera when small portable easily accessible is preferable to the SLR

Thanks, picked one up today and it works great on both platforms.

It really is a great camera for Nikon enthusiasts - and should be for many others! Your photo really shows what it can do.

I have gotten a few PM's for test photos so here are a few rather than start a new thread

A shot at 200mm and close up, fast action-seems to do it all. Does not shoot 8fps however like my D300.......but your always not carrying the D300 around.....

These are JPEGS right from the little point and shoot. It's the best Coolpix ever and I have owned quite a few in my search for a smaller rig than a D2X to lug around.

For me it's a keeper.

Best,

Capt Tedd
