"P7700 RAW (NRW)"

Savannah, US

Anyone shooting RAW in their P7700? I'm still trying to decide whether to buy a P7700, and the ability to shoot NRW and process it in CNX2 is attractive to me. I would welcome anyone's experience with this workflow, and discussion of the final image quality from this process.

I'm also interested in how noisy the images from this camera are, and how well they clean up in CNX2. Thanks.

Rich

Hi Rich,

Assuming the files are not too different from the P7000 and P7100 then the raw NRW file are handled exactly the same as NEF files and I often have to look at the file extension to tell what camera took the image - the auto WB and exposure can sometimes be better on my P7000...

One feature I occasionally use is the focus point and this does not display. Also, I use "PhotoME" and I notice that in the "manufacturers notes" some items are missing ie. focus distance, some flash info, no serial number for example. The main information is however all there.

Of course in Nikon VNX2 all info lines are populated.

Many of the "bells and whistles" in these cameras do not apply in the raw files but then any of them can be applied later in the software.

The one (1) JPG picture I took (and deleted) was where I was experimenting with some setting and the camera automatically switched out of raw and gave me a JPG. As I recall it may have been a beautiful sunset that I thought I would capture and I selected "sunset" mode. Anyway I got the pic in raw and could tweak it where necessary...

Thanks Clive. Still trying to decide. I want a good P&S, but EXACTLY what I want doesn't seem to be on the market yet. We'll see.
