My usual method is to open a recent shot with "preview", and total actuations shows up under the "inspector/Nikon" tab. When I try this with JPG files from the p7100 on my Mac, (Snow Leopard) there isn't a line with this information. Is there another way?
Thanks, but I can't find a field with that name in Opanda when I open a JPG image from the p7100. Tons of information, but nothing with that name, or anything close. I'm using Opanda under Windows XP, latest update, so maybe that's the problem?
This piece of data is within the Maker Note of the EX IF data and as such it is not standard for all cameras and is included at the desecration of the maker, Nikon. It is not present for all Nikon cameras. For example the Nikon D1 does not have this date within the EXIF Maker Note but Nikon techs can recover the data for the shutter circuitry through some special equipment.
I can see the shutter count for my D70 but not for my AW100. So I would guess that Nikon has chosen not to include this information in some of their cameras.
Interesting discussion...looks like this info isn't there. I guess our workaround is to not have the camera reset file numbers, so any recent file (until the counter rolls over) will show the cumulative pictures taken.
