"Wireless remote for P7100"

Redmond, US

Anyone know a wireless remote for the P7100? I use a Hahnel & Opteka on other cameras but they don't seem to do one for P7100.
Been using the built in interval timer but need remote thats beetr than ML. Need to be able to focus.

Do you mean a remote shutter release? If so, this one works with the P7100.

I have just received a "Vello Remote control for Nikon" from B&H. Not sure how the price compares with the Amazon unit but in any case it is a considerable saving on the Nikon unit.

It has worked perfectly "out the box" and allows me easy control of my P7000 as well as my D70s's (for which I have both the MC-DC1 as well as the Cleon wireless remote anyway).

Regarding the focussing with the Vello - it seems to me that a press of the one button first focusses then exposes the image. Pictures I have taken with the P7000 and a D70s have been in good focus. I do miss being able to focus with a "half press" but is it really necessary?

Thnx for reply Guys - I saw that 'Shoot' one on Amazon & wondered since it didn't list the P7100. It looks just like the ML-L13 too!!

B&H & the Vello _ I take it you mean the IR-N! which does work but no pre focus. Well I suppose for under $7...... You say everything you take is in focus however so for that cost, worth a try

Thnx again.

I have also checked in the manual - on Page 39 - where, in both the quick response and delayed mode it first focusses and then releases the shutter.

The only disadvantage is that sometimes one wants to prefocus on something specific. I have not experimented but I presume setting the camera to Manual Focus may overcome the abovementioned "focus first and then shoot"...

I have three IR remotes that work with my D90. My first was a Yongnuo, model # forgotten, I have now cannibalized its electronics for a project, after I bought an Aputure Combo that can be used as wired or wireless (IR) release. When I realized that the Aputure doesn’t work with my P7100 (although the Yongnuo does), I bought a Nikon ML-L3, which naturally works with the D90 and the P7100.

Now that you mention the focus issue with the P7100, I am not 100% sure about the focus. Usually when I want to be in the picture myself, I use manual focus because otherwise I can't be sure what point the camera focuses on.

Why doesn’t the Aputure work with the P7100 if it works with the D90? I can’t say. Modern science can only report the phenomenon but not explain it.

Speaking about Nikon IR releases, Nikon has the ML-3 and the ML-L3. Isn’t it funny that when you do a Google search for “Nikon ML-3” you get hits for the ML-L3, but Bing is more accurate and only returns hits for the ML-3.

Regards, Antero
