"MB-D200 battery pack on the D50?"

Just as a follow-up to this thread:
http://www.nikonians.org/dcforum/DCForumID201/6.html#1

Has anybody figured out if the Nikon dual battery pack / extention grip will fit on the D50. I could use the vertical shutter release (not so much the extended battery range).

Since the batteries (between the D50 and the D200) are the same (interchangable), the unit should slide up into the D50's battery slot. The contacts on the grip (the interface pins) looks like they will line up with the contacts in the D50's body. If the tripod screw is in the same relationship to the battery then all should be good (I know the D70 has it in a different location).

Of course, an MB-D200 is not available to try this out. But now that product photos have been released, maybe someone can photoshop the pictures to see if the two line up.

I think the chances of this working are very low to nil

It is highly unlikely that the D200 grip would fit to the D50.
Cameras are different size so the grip wont propably fit in
and the Grip has more pins than the D50 has contacts...

With a hammer and duct tape, you might be able to mate the camera and grip...
