I have to admit that I like the picture and the contrast but not being a tea drinker it looked more like something in my lab I still can't make out the tea. Kind regards Jim

Jimm,

Maybe it's 'cause you're used to seeing it in a teabag, while this is loose tea?

I was looking more to capture the motion of the leaves than anything else, while leaving a good contrast between the background and the green tea.

And thanks, algenon.

AAh thanks Mike I do not think I have every seen loose tea. But I really like the picture, it has that quality of not being the usual so it makes you really look. Nice Job. Kind Regards Jim

Edited to add, I also love the flask/tea kettle(not sure what to call it, can you tell I have never really had brewed tea, I don't even drink coffee) but it frames nicely in the picture and the handle adds to the colors nicely.

The 'technical' term would either be French Press or press pot, just for random trivia information.

I was kind of worried about the handle, actually, whether it would add or detract from the composition. Thanks =)

I thought it was a Caftiere, unless that is French for press pot.
Being a Coffee drinker I am not that well educated in the disciplines of brewing a cuppa.

Off topic, but if you like coffee, I highly recommend getting a french press. I switched from drip to the press and I will likely never go back. I like a good rich strong cup, and the press delivers. The only catch is that you need to use a course ground coffee.

Yes, this is essentially the same thing. Cone-ground coffee would suit just fine, and you can tailor each cup to your needs, instead of making like 12 cups of coffee and drinking maybe only 7 one day, 10 the next. I'm not big on coffee, but when I do drink it, I prefer it pressed.

The tea looks kind strange. It does bring out the fine detail which is great! Another great shot from the Edmonton Steep's teahouse. Are there any other Edmonton Nikonians out there?

Hmm, rotate Green Tee CCW by 0.9, and it's a great shot.

I'm not sure about rotating it. Someone else told me the same thing. I kind of like it slightly unbalanced. Plus, the frames shadow is perfect which just makes it kinda weird.

Intersting how you like it slightly unbalanced. I'm one for straight lines myself. But I'm not the creative type!

I can certainly see the merit, and I do like non-linear shots a lot of the time, but it doesn't quite work with me on this one. *shrug* Personal preference.

Agreed! I really enjoyed doing this.

I can't wait till we meet again. Hopefully as the weather gets nicer and the nights get longer we can get out to other places too!

The only problem with this is we might actually spread NAS!

Yea not going to happen anytime soon with all this snow and melt combination! Steeps makes great shots! I'm sure we're not done with that place yet! I definitely want to try out the 18-200VR there once I it comes in! Spreading more and more lens lust hahah!

I am just kidding about the 200-400 lens as I don't have one.

Though, what mischif one could create with one in a tea shop? Hmm.
