I also have a D50 that has been "bullet-proof" since it came out of the box years ago. I also shoot with a D200, and the D50 has better warmth and color than the D200. When I want a prettier, warmer image, I always grab the D50 first.
That, and it is rugged, too. I dropped it once where it hit off the inside of a car, then onto a concrete garage floor. I swore I had broken the shutter, as it wouldn't release. The next time I picked it up, I shot 300+ images with it, and it gave the same old good results as it ever did, and it is still clicking along.
