"D50 LCD SCREEN PROBLEM"

GB

I am a complete novice in photography. A few months ago, I bought a used Nikon D50. A few days ago I noticed that the LCD monitor does not show the full image. Half of the image is shown and the other half is blacked out.

Hi _____,

Welcome to Nikonians!

Is the blacked out half of the LCD at the top or bottom of the screen or at the left or right side of the LCD screen?

If the. blacked out area is at the top or bottom of the LCD;
When you view the image on your computer is the entire image visible or is half the image blacked out?

If half of the image is blacked out on the computer as well, I would guess you were using flash and had the shutter speed set higher than the maximum sync speed.

If you answer the questions above, we can continue to diagnose the problem.

BTW:

We always encourage our members to fill in their real first and last names and have made that issue a part of our Terms of Use.

The intent is to foster a community of "real people" instead of mysterious web-personalities with anonymous screen names.

Doing this helps to establish and maintain a safe, civil and friendly environment.

Thanks in advance.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty

The blacked out half is on the right side of the LCD screen. The entire image is visible on the computer

Have you tried moving the Multi-Selector to show the Histogram.
Does it have any effect?
If not, unfortunately the problem is in the camera.
It could be anything from a loose connector to a bad LCD or circuit board.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty
