"crackling eletronic noises"

CA

I have had noises from time to time when I press the shutter 1/2 way.
It is not consistent and doesn't affect the picture taking process.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so should anything be done?

Tks

Tony

If it is a VR type lens and the VR feature is on, are you sure the noise is not the VR motor stabilizing the image?

If you are looking through the viewfinder, you should see the image jump and then lock in a stable position.

Hi George and Brian

No it isn't the VR as I have the issue with a couple of different lens on the camera My 18-55 has no VR and my Sigma 70-300 doesn't either.

I hope it isn't giving up on me

Hi Tony,

Are you hearing the micro motor driving the AF?
Could you discribe the noise?
Does it squeek or grind?
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty

Hi Tony,

That is strange.
Just in case, try cleaning the electrical contacts on both the lens and the camera body. Since the probability of bad wiring in two or more lenses is remote. Dirty or oxidized contacts would be the most likely cause that I can think of.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty

Hi Marty,

I have a feeling you may be right. I was using my Sigma 70-300 at the Ottawa Senators 3rd sweater reveal and I could hear the motor this time.

I am going to clean the contacts this week

Tks
