There is only on port on the camrea that is common to your computer, the USB port. You can use the cable that comes with your camera.

Have you looked at pages 81-82 or your camera's reference manual?


More important is the software you will need to control the camera. Choosing Tethered Shooting Software for Nikon DSLR Cameras.

I've used a 36' (thirty six feet) one with an active repeater in it to tether various Nikons. At about $1/foot you may not need that much, but it's certainly been handy. (Its main purpose is to connect my big printer, which is a good ways from the system. But if I'm shooting, I'm not printing!)
