"EN-EL3 Faulty Battery. Delay in recieving mailback enve"

Has anyone else here registerd there faulty battery by telephone and not recieved there pre-paid envelope to send it back with? Mine was registerd 1 week ago. If there is a shortage of supply nikon should say so on there web site. I feel for anyone who relies on there camera supplied battery. I have backups so i'm fairly lucky.

Yes, I have registered and not yet received my envelope.

However, this is what I was expecting. The Nikon UK website said that envelopes will be sent out once replacement battery stocks are available, later in November. I'm not sure they are behind schedule.

Why is it that we in Europe get a second rate service from nikon regarding the EN-EL3 recall. Looks like most US and for that matter most other countries they are getting there battery's replased within 1 week. I registerd mine last week and was told that now my EN-EL3 was registerd as one in the bad batch i would recive a pre-paid envelop by return. This is not the case. All we get is an e-mail stating we will be contacted by phone/e-mail when they have stock. Come on Nikon Europe don't let the side down. Does Nikon USA get priorty over the batteries? It seems as though nikon europe's general stock of most products is low.

I am in USA- called yesterday and was told that they are behind on processing so do not expect it shipped befoer 7 days. I got email today with tracking # so should get it in 7 days as I do not want to pay extra $10 for priority shipping.

I think they do not expect such responce so behind in schedule. Does anyone know if battery holder they ship with D70 would work with D50?

Thanks-B

I did not get a shipping tracking number but my friend did so I called NikonUS.

After being given 3 different numbers to call and finally got the first guy again, he said he would check.

He called me the next day. No record of either my online request or my phone call where I gave them my Visa number.

So he then took my information again.

Hi all,

Got mail yesterday where Nikon stated that they have gotten the batteries in stock. I will be sent a pre-paid envelope in 5-10 days, and after receiving that, I'll send my faulty battery to Nikon. After examining the battery, they will sent me the new one in another 5-10 days.

-Looks like we all gonna have them before xmas, doh!

Ps. I bought a spare battery...

Well looks like i was wrong about the delay just in europe. Funny how there seems to be enough stock around so people can buy backup batteries but not enough to go around for replasments. Good marketing by nikon. If nikon know which batches are effected and have stated they will replase them with a newer model why does it take them 5-10 days to post the envelope 5-10 days to check them when they recieve them (if they Have stock?). all they need to do is check the serial number. if they were testing and returning the same battery fair enough but they are not. In the UK if a product is not of merchandisable condition (faulty) and it's still under warranty we have the right to a replasment, repair or refund from the place of purchase. Correct me if i'm wrong. Why did registerd nikon users not get an e-mail regarding the possible fault? There quick enough to send e-mails to us about new products but unless i had not seen posts on here about the recall i would be none the wiser. rant over. lol. Good luck to those waiting.

Just a quick update on my replacement in the UK...

Today, a brand-new EN-EL3e arrived, with a pre-paid envelope to return the "faulty" EN-EL3.

This is not what Nikon UK said would happen (they said to expect a return envelope, send the faulty one away, then get the new one returned), but I'm not complaining.

The EN-EL3e will fit nicely in my upcoming D200 as well as my Wife's D70

Please place the battery inside the pre-paid envelope and post it back to us, the return address is already printed on the return envelope.

When we receive your battery, we will send a replacement by return post and you should receive it within 5-10 days of receipt of your battery.

Strange as the first e-mail corrosponds to the ref number i was originaly given whem i registerd but the second e-mail has a completly different number. I wonder if there getting e-mails and ref number mixed up. i guess some people are registering and the confirmation e-mails are going to the wrong e-mail addys?

I have similar experience with Nikon. It looks like they were not expecting so many people calling for battery. They gave it to third party and still not be able to keep up with demand. My delivery from UPS was rescheduled twice so hope that I will get it befoer Christmas-B

The Nikon rep I spoke to in Canada said I needed to package the battery. Even Nikon Canada's website provides details on the type of packaging to be used. No mention of providing mailback envelopes. Fortunately I found out the store I bought my camera from was willing to do a straight exchange if I brought it in with the receipt.

I am disappointed with Nikon service. I order it with CC guarantee and it arrived empty envelop- yeah no batteries inside. This was after 14 days. So i called 800 number and there was no supervisor available to left my Mobil #. Now I have to wait tomorrow for some one to call back. I just hope they do not charge my card for nothing. Does any one has similar experience?=B

Recieved my new battery today (11-28) EL3a and return envelope. Sent it back. Took 1 3/4 hours to charge.

Two weeks from placing second order but there were holidays in there.
