"D40x is unresponsive"

US

My D40x suddenly froze and showed the following error message: " Error. Press shutter release button again"

I did press the button again and again but no luck.

Did anybody else get the same problem?

Hi Jose,

Sorry to hear of your problem. Try reseting the camera!
If that doesn't work a trip to Nikon Sevice would be in order.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty

I seemed to have bad luck this week. My D5000 just gave up on me and had sent it to service. And today, my back-up camera, D40x became unresponsive. I heard that the service cost for this D40x problem would rack up to $300. Might as well get a new one.

I have the same problem with a two week old D5100. I get the error "Press shutter release button again". I called Nikon 24 support and was told to take the camera back to where I bought it to have them send it in for service. I'm going to get them to exchange it or return my money.... I was going to use it today to shoot pictures of bikes at Daytona Bike Week and the International Speedway.
