"D50 and Tamron 17-35"

Kolkata, IN

Hello fellow Nikonians,

I need some help regarding the Tamron 19-35 ? How good a lens is it ? Im considering it for the D50, I need a little more wide angle than a 35mm 28-100G and the 28-135 Sigma that I have. THe Price for the 19-35 is also very good.

Debarshi

Are you buying the 17-35 or 19-35?

Photo Zone lens survey tells following...
Tamron AF 17-35mm f/2.8-4 SP Di has quite good optics but very slof AF
Tamron AF 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5 has not that good optics and AF is very slow.

Im not yet sure wether Id buy the tamron 19-35 now. But I think I'll buy the Nikkor 18-70. I'll visit my local camera shop and see what price I get for the 18-70, i'll trade my 18-55 and have an old pentax 35-80.

Good luck trading the 18-55....I have yet to find a place I can turf mine! Nobody wants them, they can't resell them!
