Was reading about some lenses on the Bjorn Rorslett website about 'chipping' some lenses. If I understand correctly, it involves putting a cpu chip in a lens (mostly MF lenses) to allow metering. Would doing this allow some of my older AI/AIS lenses to meter with the D40? If so, who provides this service and how much does it cost.
Also, noticed the Voigtlander MF f mount lenses 40/2 and 58/1.4 do have a chip - will they meter?

Yes it will allow your Ai and Ai-S lens to meter. But not all Ai and Ai-S lens can be chipped. I have never had one chipped and if you do a search you can run across the pros and cons on the man who does this in NC, since I have not had one done I can't comment on this aspect. Google chipping Ai-S Nikkor Lens and you will run find the guy who does this service.
As far as the Voigtlander MF f mount lenses 40/2 and 58/1.4 I did read they will meter and they are chipped like the Nikkor 45 f2.8 Ai-P and the Nikkor 500 f4 Ai-P(I have this lens) and they meter without a problem.
