"D40x Focusing Screen - where to get?"

US

Hello,

I would like to replace the focusing screen in my Nikon D40x. Where can I get one?

I have found reference to Virtual Village (http://www.virtualvillage.com/Items/005106-023?sck=3097987) and Katz Eye (http://www.katzeyeoptics.com/item--Nikon-D40-Focusing-Screen--prod_D40.html) in other posts.

Is there any place that I can get a Nikon replacement from rather than going with one of these after market products? Thanks!

Scott

I just received a focus screen from www.focusingscreen.com. The site looks a bit shady, I know, but it has a whole array of replacement focus screens for the D40.

I bought the Canon EC-L version (cross-hair) myself and it arrived yesterday. Installed it in less than 5 minutes and I really really like it. Highly recommend it.

My advice would be to e-mail NikonUSA and ask them.

And they will reply (if they reply) to say that no such thing exists.

took me forever to find it but there is a genuine Nikon part so you do not have to buy the Katz Eye or other third party replacement. I just wish places like BHPhoto or Adorama sold these parts since they sell the focus screens for every other Nikon camera besides the newer DX cameras!

D50 / D70 / D70s / D40 focus screen:
Nikon Part#: 1G950-116 $23

D300 / D200 / D80 focus screen: Part # 1G950-119 $20
