"Dell Computers now selling D50 Kits"

Just a quick FYI. Evidently Dell Computers now sells the D50/Nikkor kits (one or two lenses). The kit with both the 18-55 and 55-200 lenses is $999. They also sell quite a few Sigma lenses for Nikon f-mounts. They have long sold all the other major DSLR camera brands so this is a positive development. If you live somewhere other than Texas, that price is also usually tax and (3-5 day) shipping free. Personally, I would be more interested if they start selling the D200 in a few months, but I thought I'd pass along the information....

Just to clarify, you still pay tax no matter where you live. The tax is a Texas tax and must be collected. Somewhat unique to Texas.

Just a further clarification. I've lived in Arizona, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Missouri, Texas, and (to a lesser degree) Nevada. I have only paid sales taxes on purchases in Pennsylvania and Missouri (and of course, Texas) As Dell puts kiosks in more malls, and puts its facilities in more states, that will change; however, I just doublechecked AZ and NM and they are still free of sales taxes on Dells. It is hit or miss, but still worth checking. It is not the case that Dell charges sales taxes everywhere.

I just purchased a Sigma 70-200 HSM from Dell and I am 100% satisfied, even though when I received my 70-200 it had a spot in the coating on the inside of the rear element. I called Dell and they promptly sent me another 70-200 and paid shipping both ways. This was a no questions asked return and I am fortunate for this. I will definitely order lenses and other equipment from Dell in the future. The price was competitive and the customer service was top notch. The best thing is that I can split my payment into two big chunks and pay off this lens a little at a time, of course I can do this with a credit card as well.
