"Sandisk Ultra 2"

Los Angeles, US

I use my D70 for general social events and travel. Would I be throwing money down the drain if I purchase Sandisk Ultra 2 compact flash for my style of photography?

Ultra II and or not the cost difference is soooo minimal, and if you decide later to get more into photography your not kicking yourself later.

Spend the extra what, 5-10 bux?

I must agree too if you are concerned about that then photography isn't for you. I'd go for it... buy a "big" card since the cost per gb drops even more. I can get a 1gb ultra ii for something like $95 and a 2gb for $109 that is like $15 for the 2nd gig. What other type of cards are you thinking of getting? are you more concerned about the ultra ii brand over the cheaper ones or buying a big card?

I have 2 gig total of the regular Sandisk 512 mb cf cards. I've had these cards for nearly 3 years. I want to replace my existing cards because I don't want them to fail on me when I'm on a 3 weeks vacation to China this summer. I also have the Epson P-2000 to store all my files and so I don't really need alot cards. I figure a couple of 1 gig cards or four 512mb cards will do for now.

Is there a significant difference with the Ultra II or is it just marketing by Sandisk that the Ultra IIs are better.

If you are comparing them to regular Sandisk cards they are faster..However, I would check the exact speeds since I do not know them off hand. I personally only use Ultra ii's and extreme cards since it is all I have ever owned and they haven't failed me yet. The cards you have now should be fine they are very durable and have a long life span. If you have the Epson and 2 gigs you should be fine. Perhaps just buy a 2gb ultra II?..I find this one a great deal myself.

I use either the Ultra 2s or the Lexar 80x cards. I just bought 3 1GB Ultra 2s for $30 each after rebate.
