"Open a D80 raw file in Adobe PS2"

Springfield, US

Open a D80 NEF files with a TEXT editor and change "D80." to "D200". The file will open in PS2 as raw. Colors are mostly reversed. Open into PS then invert the image. Almost true color and the result is interesting. Just something to do while waiting for Adobe to update ACR for the D80.

Why not just install the plug-in that came with Picture Project and open them normally in CS2 ??

Dunno - if you just click "install" it asks, at some point, you if you want to install the Nikon NEF LE Plugin - and hey presto!

Jeremy.

Be aware that the LE plugin opens images in 8-bit only, not 16-bit.

Thanks for pointing that out. Makes it a lot easier to open a raw in PS2 rather then going from NX to PS2.

But it was interesting to edit the raw file. Might be a new photographic technique for photos that are "out of the box."

PS2, I assume you mean CS2?

If you install Capture NX V1.01, it will update the Adobe Raw 8bi file. That means you can edit D80 NEF's in Photoshop.
