Hi , does anyone have any experience of successful modification of a
Nikkor -H auto 85mm f1.8 lens circa 1972 for use on the Nikon D90?
I have just purchased one and my research suggests that it will not be possible for me to use it on my D90.This will not be as catastrophic
as I imagined as i can use it on A Canon body with my nikon/EOS adapter
but I really wanted to use it for HD video on the D90. Any help/suggestions will be most welcome.

Hi Robert,

There are shops where you can get pre-AI type lens modified to AI specification so they are safe to use on all Nikon DSLR's.
In the USA, John White at www.aiconversions.com does excellent work and charges $25.00 - 35.00 US per lens.
There probably is someone in the UK making the modifications as well though I really don't know.

Hi Robert,

I have converted a 55m f2.8 and an 24mm f2.8 AIS lens myself with a chip that works in all modes and TTL with the flash. If it is a pre AI lens you will have to get it converted to AI lens first. My lenses were easy as all I had to do was glue on the chip. You can read a lot more about it here:
