"D70 and 70-200 f2.8 VR"

As far as I can tell, the D70 and the 70-200 f2.8 VR should work just fine together. Is that correct? The VR functions will work properly?

Yes. Even the D70 images currently available show EXIF data claiming use of the 70-200.
