Let me be the first to say Welcome to The Group! There's a wealth of information here and most of it's archived so spend a few hours and read, read, read. Doing a quick search before asking a question might keep you from getting flammed, that being said this community is ALOT more friendly than others i frequent. Great to have you on board. Now if only my D70 would arive!
I have been going thru reading the articles, wondering if you can suggest me something good about filters, I want to try out buying few colored and special effect filters and play with them. I am not sure which one are good to start with.
I'm new to digital too, but i'm pretty sure colored filters are a waste of money since we can cange white balance on the fly and color curves with a download. What your shooting is gonna determine the types of filters you need. I've heard that a UV filter is just as benifical on digital as it is on film. I've also heard a hot mirror filter can help, but that was for D2H and it uses the much different LBCAST sensor. Let us know what your planing to shoot and we'll be happy to suggest some filters!
Yes I agree that WB is a very good feature and Nikon D70 has really showed it well as I did tested different WB options with same object and can make the diffence out well.
What I am really looking is the Special effect filters, I would like to get some of them for portraits, specially family / people's photograph. And also some to try on my excusion / travel. Typically landscapes, night scenes.
I sound like lost, but what I think I need is few of them to try out on my DX 18-70 and 70-300ED Nikkor Lens.
