"What are top DSLR photography books out there?"

New York City, US

Hi, I've used coolpix cameras for the last five years and I am finally making my move into DSLR with the D70. And I was wondering if any of the pros can recomend book titles that can refresh my fundamentals and advance and refine my intermediate skills. I am interested in street portraiture, stilled life, and landscape. I am also interested in refining Black & White skills. And finally, what is a good title on post editing workflow (photoshop & Photoshop Elemets) and printing with an Epson. I take pictures for fine arts purposes.

I have a preference for books that are thourough on fundamentals, precise and to the point. Any comments on the national Geographic hotography field guide series?

Thanks guys.

You can start in our Bookshelves section...

I've bought the Field guides and they're good refreshers.

My Plan:

Get out of the car.
Get closer to the subject.
Pick the right mid-tone this time.

Thanks for the tip. I was hoping to get some personal favorites by the pros because without any recomendations, it sounds really difficult to discern what is good out of the 300 titles in the bookshelf sections. I wonder if anyone might recommend a few gems out of the many. Thnx.
