I'm relatively new to this community, having only just recently upgraded from a D50 to a D80. I took this photo just this past Monday on Canadian Thanksgiving. Both were taken on top of Burnaby Mountain just outside Vancouver, BC.

This is the view from a new group of condominiums. The land where they stand, as well as the clear land, used to be a golf course. The edge of the woods marks the start of a stand of state land - mostly hiking trails, and often used for hunting. This was my final shot for the morning - the sun was at my back, roughly 9:45 am.

They worked this morning - good thing too: I think "Sunrise on the Stewiack River" could be the definition of a fall day (and since fall is my favorite season , I really like that shot).

Hmmm...obviously I'm doing something wrong here, as I had to dumb down my image to get it posted moments ago. Now it looks like a smudge of colours relative to the other great images posted. Oh well.

But it's a smudge of very nice colours

Try reducing the quality (increasing the compression) of the jpeg, rather than reducing the size of the image.

I got this message when I tried to upload a photo:

"There was an error in the URL you used and your request cannot be processed.
You may want to use NikoScope.com to find what you are looking for."

I have no idea what that means. A little help, please? I'm new--could it be the server firewalls from my location causing interference of some sort?

I LOVE the D80!

OK, this image will probably be "disqualified" because it is not technically "fall colors", but it is all about "fall", so I thought I would include it just for the fun of it. I guess you could say that it is the color of "fear and foreboding." Took with my D80 and 17-55mm.

I like this shot. Is this wagon really simply sitting in the open, or is it part of a park (along the bikeway in your other shots)?

The buckboard sits in a field about 120 miles northwest of Albuquerque. It is out in the open and has been sitting there for the past six years, since I have been visiting Ghost Ranch. It is near Abiquiu, New Mexico. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. That location inspired the paintings of Georgia O'Keeffe.

Duh, I had to RE-compress this photo to meet the file size limitation, but the purple colors still come through. Thanks Bob for cluing me in.
Shot 22 SEP 2007, meets the criteria for "fall." Village of Vuanu, Viti Levu, Fiji.

Don't remember the time of day, neglected to change in-camera time zone.

This is the first digital product I've owned that can reproduce the color purple. I love this camera! The US Army standard for SLR cameras is the Nikon D2 series or the Nikon D70 or equivalent, so I bought this on my own instead of showing loyalty to my Canons. Most of my photography experience is through the use of my Samsung Digimax S700, Canon PowerShot G5 and Canon EOS 650, which kept me in the film world for years.

I LOVE the D80!

This is one of two flocks of geese that hang out around Al Faw Palace, stopping traffic and pretty much running the place. This flock is older by a month, hatched in the beginning of April. Geese are larger than ducks, various shades of grey to white, in case you wondered. I was trying to frame them against the palace in the background, but they were agitated on this morning so this was as close as I could get to them.

I LOVE the D80!

These geese seem to be quite smart - they have claimed the only shade I can see in this picture, and I'm sure it's getting warm there by mid-morning.

I took this picture at Hawk Mtn in east-central PA. The mountain is noted for its exceptional autumnal raptor migration. This was taken on the way to the top. The decaying leaf was backlit by a ray of sunlight that made its way through the treetop canopy. I wanted a very dark background so I underexposed two stops using a high shutter speed set in manual mode.

Don,

Great shot, action, sense of motion and colors!

Did you consider photshopping the pole/flag out of the right side of the photo?

My thought is that it may be a bit distracting as it draws the viewers eye away from the main subject, your daughter.

On the other side of the coin, I guess it also shows that the horse is jumping which might be lost if you take it out?

I hope you don't mind the suggestion.

Once again, great Grab!
