"Umbrella bulb?"

Not sure where to post this. What are the best recommendations for bulbs for umbrellas? I need a good amount of light for it, but there seems to be quite a few choices. I only have one umbrella for portrait work. Thanks for helping a noob

I guess I mean the bulb I can attach to my umbrella for portrait shoots, family headshots mostly. What types do you suggest?

I think you are talking about the fixture for holding the bulb and the bulb itself.

I would suggest you go to www.alienbees.com and look at the AB 400 for about $225.

Lowel makes excellent fixtures. The Tota-light one can be lamped from 300 watts to 1000 watts. The fixture sells for about $125 and the bulbs from $2 to $30 with about 1000 hours. They are commonly available at most stores.
